Seven years too late

Election time bravado? Field realities? Lessons learnt late? Or is it timed to coincide the exit of Musharraf?
Gosh, in the first place they shouldn't have let all those guys escape in the middle of the night from Kunduz, airlifting Pakistani army honchos and Taliban big wigs.. It's all coming back to bite them in the rear.
$2 trillion spent on Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead, 4500 American troops dead, thousands more have one or more limbs missing, thousands more have life impacting mental traumas that are going to play out in every little town of America, in the near future.
And now they have learnt the lesson.. That it was always Pakistan?
Or perhaps it isn't a lesson, they never needed one. Iraq was a basket case before Bush Jr. started his election campaign.
